Pioneer Family

Our Roots Run Deep

Our roots run deep in the Skagit Valley! So deep, the Wallace Family was named the 113th  "Pioneer Family of the Year" this past August and celebrated at Pioneer Park in La Conner.

Yes,  George Wallace joined his brother Norm  in 1957 to grow” the insurance firm that Norm founded in 1945 and named The Norm Wallace Agency.  But, before that, he was growing potatoes!  In fact the Wallace family has been growing potatoes in the Skagit Valley since 1903, after emigrating from Ireland where they also grew potatoes!

The modern Wallace Potatoe enterprise was founded in the 1950’s by George and his other brother Dick, who farmed the same land farmed by their father, Robert Wallace, and their uncles, George and Tom Wallace. Today, co-owners George Wallace and his sons, Jack and Norm, and Dick Wallace’s son Tim grow and market conventional red, white, gold and purple potatoes as well as organic red and russet potatoes.

So, more  than 60 years later,  George is still “growing” the farm and stops by the office to check in on things now and then, too.  Wallace & Associates! We're a proud locally owned business that still Works for You!
